IX. International Conference about Moldavite, Tektite und Impactprozesses

23. - 26.9.2002 Franzensbad, Czech Rep.

Moldavite

The focus of the Conference was the Nort Bohemian Locations in the Egaer Basin. Moldavites from here are extremely rare. Most of them are smaller than 5g/pc and often show a glossy surface. Brown and olivegreen colors occur less often than in the South Bohemian Locations.

The Jesenice Basin near Cheb. One of the very few North Bohemian Locations. Unfortunately no finds at the visite during the Conference.

Most of the Moldavites from the Nort Bohemian area are found in the Gravel pit in Drenice. Gravel pits wash and assort a large ammount of sediment. On the right sized gravel pile it is possible to search a huge ammount of material in a relatively short time. All that without digging. We as the participants from the Conference had a permission to search for a while. A few speciments could be found here. My one was the biggest with 3,21g! yaayy!
